Recreational Activities Programme

Providing a space for recreational activities is an essential component of the resettlement process. This programme is designed to support mental health and wellbeing, with the additional benefit of supporting refugees to integrate socially and culturally.

The programme allows refugees the opportunity to engage more with their local community, practice their language skills, and explore the surrounding areas of their new home. We also welcome volunteers to support the programme, with the added advantage of being able to develop their own interest in the activities and meeting new people. Activities can include for example cooking classes, trips to museums and theme parks, or even a community picnic.

Organising these kinds of activities can be time-consuming and logistically challenging for some groups. Resettlement help to co-ordinate activities based on preferences and accessibility. This can include some of the more administrative work, such as DBS checks for volunteers, as well as managing the transportation arrangements, identifying appropriate activities in the local area, liaising with third party organisations, and tasks necessary to create a safe and enjoyable space for activities to take place.
